Kinetika Bloco 14/04/14
Last week I hosted a drumming project with Kinetika Bloco and it was an absolute pleasure. Our numbers grew day by day as my hearing slowly went because more and more drums were being banged in our old echoey sports hall! But, by the Friday we had created amazing beats and chants, which were accompanied by a great brass section, and we took our sounds out to the streets of Norwood! This will be part of a larger scale project with Kinetika Bloco, kindly funded by Sound Connections... so I'll keep you posted!

Croydon Bloco 01/05/17
A few years ago I told you about a new partnership I had made between Croydon and Kinetika Bloco. 3 years later, and with two rounds of Youth Music funding the band are flourishing. The group now have their own identity, 'Croydon Bloco'. Croydon Bloco is curently over 50 young musicians strong. It has the addition of not only a brass and woodwind, but also a steel pan section! The band, formed primarily of young people who had never played musical instruments before, have now performed all over Croydon, at local events and venues.

Goldsmiths, Theatre and Performance Summer School 07/15
Over the course of a week, I led the Theatre and Performance Summer School at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Supported by Alex Ramsden from Tangled feet I worked with a group of 16-25yrs old from local boroughs in order to support Goldsmiths to reach out to new groups of potential theatre students. We introduced the young people to new practices including Disability Theatre and new genres of theatre, such as physical theatre to help enable them to devise their own version of Shakespeare's Othello. As a past student of this course, over 10 years before, it was an honour to be back here hosting and directing, and working with such inspiring potential students.
